Project Coordinator, Dr Ria Pechlivani (CERTH), along with her colleague Nikolaos Giakoumoglou, visited Tilamur’s facilities on Tuesday, 4th of July 2023, to verify the efficiency of the sustainable food production technology called aquaponics.
During their visit, they were able to observe the different areas of the aquaponics plant such as the greenhouse where vegetables are produced in hydroponic systems (NFT) and the aquaculture area where the fish culture tanks and the recirculation and filtration systems are located.
The visitors were offered an extended presentation of the use of innovative technologies in order to achieve precision agriculture and aquaculture capable for optimizing natural resources such as water, energy consumption, fertilizers, etc. They were also able to observe the operation of the devices that the Pestnu project has implemented in Tilamur facilities (real-time nitrite and nitrate analyzer (TELLAB) and intelligent insect detection trap (AGROROBOTICA).
