An internal training focused on the use of the flow cytometer for analyses of algae took place online among the consortium partners RISE, and Neoalgae.
This hybrid training took place on the 15th and 16th of December 2022, at the facilities of Neoalgae, in Gijon, Spain, and online, and had a duration of 12 hours.
Training activities were performed, on place, at Neoalgae facilities in Gijon.
Besides the installation of the flow cytometer system, the training sessions were divided into three chapters, as presented below:
1st Chapter: Presentation of Neoalgae/Tour around the facilities (4 hours).
During this session, Neoalgae presented the algae used in different products and described the different production steps in the production of the algae. Additionally, technologies of how to improve growth were discussed as well as sustainable and environment-friendly methods.
2nd Chapter: Education of the RISE flow algae measurement system (4 hours).
During this session three main pillars were analysed:
- How to set up the system,
- How to measure in manual/auto mode,
- System maintenance.
3rd Chapter: Education of data handling (4 hours)
During this session, the participants were educated on how to read data from the web server, how to export data/movies to a local PC and how to interpret data and use it to improve production.
During the meetings, besides training of handling the system, valuable knowledge was exchanged regarding the parameters which are most valuable to measure, as well as the direction that further development of the system could adopt.
